BASIC BASES FOR DESIGNING INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION ENTERPRISES OF CABLE PRODUCTS
(EXAMPLE OF CABLE PRODUCTION PLANT
“ELECTRIC CONTACT UKRAINE” IN BRODY OF LVIV REGION)

© Ivanov-Kosteckyy S. O., 2018
The main functional and architectural and planning principles of designing of industrial-industrial enterprises of cable exploration on the territory of Ukraine are considered. The research is based on the author’s Project for the construction of a cable factory in Brody, Lviv region.
In contemporary real practice, the design of industrial objects by Ukrainian architects and designers, due to certain circumstances associated with the low cost of design work, the lack of time and hurry of customers and builders, engineers of industrial architecture neglect the quality of the architectural environment and include the design of utilitarian structures on the «distant plan». Designing industrial and production enterprises often looks like a process of heaving «gray», without the architectural image of hangars for fixing square meters under production capacity.
In 2015, a team of two architects (the Candidate of Architecture S. O. Ivanov-Kostetsky and G. S. Ivanov-Kostetskaya, «AIK «KREATIV» Ltd.) developed, on request of the French Company Nexans (Nexans, a representative on the territory of Ukraine Ltd. «Electrocontact Ukraine»), an architectural and functional concept for the installation of an industrial and production enterprise for 3000 employees with a well-developed infrastructure for the manufacture of cable products for European brand cars (for example, the concern BMW). At the beginning of 2016, permits were issued for the production of the project documentation of this Plant (the engineer Yu. V. Gurinovich («AIK «KREATIV»), the candidate of engineering sciences, constr. R. V. Lysotsky, the constr. N. P. Demchuk (PP «AKB «SPHERE»)), and on July 1, 2016 – a construction permit was issued (General Contractor, PJSC «AgrobudMekhanizatsiya»).
Architectural-planning and space-spatial solutions are taken taking into account: 1) the conditions for optimal use of the construction site; 2) the organization of a clear functional zoning and convenient technological connections; 3) providing convenience and accessibility to the less-mobile groups of the population (where provided by the production process); 4) provision of regulatory requirements for the organization of evacuation routes in the event of a fire; 5) ensuring the architectural and spatial expressiveness of the plant's buildings and modern requirements for aesthetic perfection; 6) provision of spatial, spatial, planning and design solutions in accordance with modern requirements of energy saving, economy and operation of buildings.
Constructive scheme of the production shop and warehouse – metal frame. The columns of the frame are stuck in the reinforced concrete basements, the columns of the facture are supported on the foundations of the hinged. On the columns on the digital axes there are laid-back metal frames with parallel belts, on the farm – metallic triangular two-arched arches with protrusions. Cross arches are arranged in the plane of the cover: on the axial axes, the cross-connecting blocks consist of spacers and cross-links, and connecting blocks on the digital axes – from the cross ties. Spacers and cross-stitches are made of bent-closed profiles of square section. All other arches, which adjoin directly to the bundle trusses in the plane of the cover, are fastened in the plane of the joints with the joints. In addition, on the top of the arches is a load-carrying double-edged profile board, fixed in each wave by self-tapping to the upper belt of arches. Cladding joints with corrugations together with a corrugated board form the hard disk cover. The overall stability and immobility of the structure are provided in the transverse and longitudinal directions by the design of bearing frames.

URBAN LANDSCAPES. TODAY AND TOMORROW

© Bohdanova Y. L., 2018

For a rather long time it has been declared that the environment created by a man is much more comfortable and better for life. Insane industrialization of the 19th and 20th centuries favoured active development of cities which covered big territories with construction of new districts. Nowadays cities do not develop so actively from the outside, new objects are attempted to be integrated with already existing architecture environment. Sometimes the conditions for designers are so uncomfortable whilst the wishes of investors are so immense that the consequences of such activity are rather fatal. It is worth mentioning that during last two centuries sometimes consciously and sometimes as a result of uncritical following fashionable architecture trends, a lot was done for eliminating the principle of combining architecture composition with already existing environment from architectural urban planning practice. Current stage of architecture development for which a quick information exchange is peculiar, creates big opportunities for uncritical use of the experience of other countries in architecture design sphere. Thanks to technical achievements new tendencies of shape creating, new approaches to design that have found an application in one country are becoming the acquirement of the world architecture community. Ukrainian architects also use this information, borrow foreign experience, transfer it to Ukrainian ground absolutely not taking into consideration that the object, which is taken as an example, is located in a completely different environment than the one where the analogue exists. It leads to the situation that while adapting such a building in the conditions of the territory with already existing construction the designed object, irrespective of all innovations of its architecturally-graphic solution, does not improve the existing situation, on the contrary, it leads to unjustified compression of the construction, fatal aesthetics of street spaces and inconveniences of territory functional exploitation.
Nowadays for a modern architect it is not only important to design a unique, big in size and significance building but also to know professionally how to adapt it into existing environment of urban landscape. It is possibly the first and foremost task as excessive size often creates exploitation discomfort and its uniqueness is connected with excessive expenses. The comfort of a person being in the designed object as well as functional, aesthetic and environmental comfort have always been the main task of an architect.
Key words: urban landscape, natural environment, anthropogenic environment, architects’ role, landscape architecture.

THE METAPHORIC APPROACH TO STAGE DESIGN
FOR COUNTRY WIFE BY WILLIAM WYCHERLEY BASED
ON THE XVIII – EARLY XIX s. NEO-CLASSICAL
ARCHITECTURAL MOTIFS OF “THE GARDEN ROOM”

© Bosyy P. V., 2018

The article is centered on utilizing of the architectural motifs of the XVIII–XIX s. “Garden Rooms” for the stage design of the production of Country Wife, University of San Diego, 2010.
Creating the set design for the production of The Country Wife by William Wycherley (1675) for the Old Globe and the University of San Diego MFA acting program in 2010 was marked by interesting artistic challenge. The stage space organization was determined by the thrust stage type where the audience was placed on three sides of the acting area. Thus, the stage asked for large visually unobstructed space; my scenic elements downstage were limited to chairs and benches. Professor Ray Chambers, the director of the show, insisted of a few practical doors that could be aggressively slammed; the wall needed to remain stable without any trace of shaking. The script featured a large number of locations; however, the budgetary and spatial restrictions forced to find a creative way of scenic changes and indication of locations. I felt that the complicated heavy scenery would not fit neither the spirit nor the needs of this dynamic comedy.
The plot is based on the comic premise of trying to convince a young wife to commit adultery for the sake of being fashionable. The play’s major conflict lays between a naïve and faithful young woman from the provinces and the aristocrats spoiled by the “city” life style. I believed that a visual representation of the quintessential conflict of “the nature” and “the culture” would help storytelling and blocking of the show.

“MANAGED CITIES”
(DIE ÜBERSCHAUBAREN STÄDTE)
AS AN URBANISTIC APPROACH TO DESIGN OF SMALL CITIES, EXAMPLE OF SMALL CITIES OF SAXONIA (FRG)

© Harbaum B., 2018

In this article, written for Ukrainian readers, the author concerns the features of the functioning of small towns. For this, he used examples of small towns in Saxony. The development of the aspect is based on many examples and field observations. A preliminary study by the author on this topic allowed him to check their result in discussions about the good quality of life in the city. The author concluded that not enough attention of government focused on the issue of state development planning for such settlements.
First, the article describes the development of this type of settlements as small towns. As a rule, studies of such cities (including the small towns of central Saxony) are not scientific in nature, but cultural and practical type. Therefore, in this article the author gives a critical review of the existing perspective of administrative-territorial and regional policy on small cities in Germany and suggests that the basis for the development of such cities should be laid philosophical views of Wilhelm Schapps, which were based on the study of Saxon cities. As an approbation of this conclusion, the author describes the project «Atlas of the cities of Saxony», which he has been cooperating with the students of the departments of architecture and landscape of the Dresden Technical University for quite a long time.
Thus, the author made preliminary conclusions regarding the strategies for the development of small towns in Saxony, in particular:
• It is necessary to create a network of «background areas of social life», which form quality proposals for consumer services and use of historic urban development.
• It is necessary to involve active citizens in the process of forming their environment, for this necessary to use modern methods of social coverage and approbation.
• It is important to consider the issues of how people of different national cultures in small towns can interact. Separately specify how small cities can be used for migration processes of the population (characteristic of Europe in recent years).
• Intensify the research of questions as to how modern digital technologies used in retail trade should change the functional use of housings and buildings in small towns.

THE ROLE AND PLACE OF THE NATIONAL UNION OF ARCHITECTS OF UKRAINE IN FORMING OF ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF THE FUTURE
(AT THE EXAMPLE OF THE LVIV’S REGIONAL ORGANIZATION)

© Goy B. V., 2018

In modern conditions, complex socio-political transformations, the reform of the higher education sector of Ukraine, the general rapid urban development, the active introduction of new building norms, technologies and materials, the extremely rapid exchange of professional information and experience, experiments and testing of new ideas – in front of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine (NSAU) as a public professional creative association – new challenges arise. The future of Ukrainian architecture depends on the answers to them, and hence the kind and quality of the environment in which we all live. The real role in these processes is played by the cooperation between the Union and the educational institutions that let students-architects work and architects-scientists workplace, and thus form modern Ukrainian architectural education and science.
NSAU, in particular the Lviv’s regional Union Office, is trying to find ways of developing education and science of the future adequate to the time, the needs of society and world trends. NSAU will continue to work both on traditional and newest lines. The following areas of activity should be priorities in the nearest future: organizing practitioners-architects at the All-Ukrainian level (setting up a dialogue between students, scholars and architects who take an active public position), establishing the international educational activities of the Union, the organization of study tours and the use of opportunities that open the membership of the National Union in the International Union of Architects.

PROFILES OF COMPETENCY IN ARCHITECTURAL
PREPARATION: EXPERIENCE AND PERSPECTIVES

© Dzhyhil Yuriy, 2018

This publication is based on author's experience in international Tempus projects. The author claims that the definition of competency profiles is a prerequisite for achieving the planned learning results. The areas of preparation for architects, that are correctly chosen, will contribute to their successful job placement and production progress.
The features are that there is a so-called dualism in the evaluation of learning outcomes of the architects in the higher schools. It is because of the fact that architecture is based, on one hand, on the knowledge of engineering and exact sciences, on another – on the knowledge of humanitarian, artistic and cultural principles.
This dualism accompanies practical activities of an architect after getting a diploma of higher education. Fact is that the activity of an architect is the subject of personal certification. In this case, the graduate of higher school of Architecture has to be adapted to the modern forms of making project production.
The author gives an example of experience of the Institute of Architecture of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. He points out that the updating of curricula, successful selection of teaching staff and the development of participation in international cooperation will play an increasing role in the future.
Also the national regulatory and legislative framework used by Ukrainian architects must be in line with European standards as Ukraine develops its progress towards European integration.
Key words: competency profiles, learning outcomes, dualism of the product of architecture.

CREATIVE AND COORDINATION ATTRIBUTES
IN ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION AND IN THE WAY
OF PROFESSION FOR THE FUTURE

© Lucjan W. Kamionka, 2018

The article presents the problems of education in the fields of architecture and urban planning at the secondary school level in the form of a pilot program and the education of architecture engineers at the level of bachelor and master university courses. The key attributes of the education and professional/creative activity of an architect are the creation and coordination of the process of shaping the human environment. The role of the architect in the process is significant. Regardless of whether the architect creates in a small team or works in a large company, the complexity of the creation process, as well as the scale of the issues will make them responsible for space creation and the coordination of the design process. Close cooperation with industrial designers and building management specialists – at every stage of the design process – is key to achieving the objectives. Building design should be a result of a multi-criteria analysis, in which each of the solutions is supported by a simulation allowing to estimate the effects of the adopted concept.

The article highlights the results of educational and search designing of the architecture of the Ukrainian national theatrical pavilions for the world exhibition of the Prague Quadrivenent in 2019 and subsequent years.
The need to specifically highlight the idea of creating the architecture of Ukrainian national theatrical pavilions at world exhibitions is due to the fact that since 1991, the time of Ukraine's independence, the achievements of architecture and scenography of the national Ukrainian theater were once presented at the theatrical exhibition forum of the World, although the main one – the Prague Quadrenal 2015 There are many such theater forums, for example in Avignon – France, Edinburgh – Scotland, Taipei – Taiwan. VIEW ON MODERN UKRAINIAN ARCHITECTURE,
ITS PRESENT AND FUTURE

© Коrdunyan О. Р., 2018

The article provides the view of the author on shaping modern architecture in Ukraine. Positive and negative factors that influence its formation are listed. Based on the analysis of these factors the author describes the dangers of further development, suggests the way of solving current problems in modern Ukrainian architecture as well as describes personal view on the future of an architect profession.

New fundamental challenges are set before modern architecture and architecture of Ukraine in particular. It is connected with the quality transition of vital activity of a person and society in all spheres and plans of existing to the highest level. From the outside it is visible as the arrival of an absolutely new epoch of quality social connections caused by scientific and technological progress, however, from the inside it is creating new relations between architecture objects under conditions of total reformation of all country vital social structures.
The emergence of multipurpose, designer objects of architecture are the first and most important display of new negative tendencies on this way.
How can it be prevented? First of all, stereotypical ideas and solutions should be fully refused. Architecture work should become unique, personal and directed. Shaping modern Ukrainian architecture reflects the following influence theses on its creation: situation in architecture business worsens due to the pressure of bureaucratic apparatus, legislation imperfection in urban planning and architecture sphere, unprofessional conduct of officials, commercialization (selling qualification certificates), which all have brought to architecture and construction market oversaturation with low qualification level specialists and as a result, to dumping and decrease of an architect’s work value. Cordial capital and state independent clients with their own “tastes” have created economic pressure on an architect; have been dictating to the market “up-to-date” modern architecture as the one made of metal and glass exclusively.
Officials’ “reforms” in the sphere of architecture lead to its complete degradation and ruining.
Solving mentioned above problems can be done in the following ways: bringing back the authority to architecture profession which is directly connected with architecture school; not quantity but quality education characteristics are important. Education itself has to form the culture of understanding deep reasons of relations development between the creator and the consumer of modern architecture ideas.

IN PLACE OF THE REPORT

The article presents the department of architectural environment design phenomenon at Architecture institute of Lviv Polytechnic National University in its conceptual, artistic and time development towards architectural education and profession of the future.
The article highlights the department of architectural environment design phenomenon at Architecture institute in its conceptual, artistic and time development towards architectural education and profession of the future.
The main question in current architecture in Ukraine is whether modern architects will be able to continue performing the function of architecture form creators in the future and if yes, then in what way.
It means that us – those responsible for architects of the future, those who are aware of teachings of “pioneers”, “great masters”, “designers”, “generators of socialist realism ideas” – have been required to take moral responsibility for all Ukrainian environment and architectural one in particular what takes a lot of courage. It would be worth setting such rules of architectural education thanks to which it would be possible to define conceptual basics of the very profession.
Based on this, for 15 years the department leadership has been creating special techniques for teaching and educating architects – designers exclusively. Since the beginning personified studying as well as assisting each student in finding their individual way and goal in the profession have been the educational doctrine of the department. We have also started from teaching future designers to communicate professionally so they could illustrate their opinion with the help of sketches, not verbally in order future clients understood them correctly and unambiguously and did not misinterpret. The tasks of department teachers are to find the goal whilst the tasks of the students are to find solutions and the more mistakes they make during studies the better, since then less of them will be made in a future professional life. However, there are tasks which the department will not be able to solve without answering the following questions.
Is the profession of an architect dead-end? Does modern national architecture exist? How much and what should be in architecture which would allow to call it at least the beginning of the national one? Is there modern architecture of “West” and “East”, “North”, “South”? And if yes, where is the boundary between them?
Key words: phenomenon, activity, conceptual, artistic time development; architectural education and profession of the future.

DEVELOPMENT OF LANDSCAPE THEATERS
OF UKRAINE IN THE FUTURE

© Proskuriakov V., Gumennyk I., 2018

The article highlights the ways of landscape theaters architecture development in the future in the modern Ukraine and defines trends and directions of the theater creation forms in open space in various zones of the country’s climatic regions.
According to the results of the assistant at the Department of Architectural Environment Design, M. Arch. I. V. Gumennyk under the leadership of Sc. D., Prof. V. I. Proskuryakov, research on the genesis of landscape theaters in Ukraine, we can make the following conclusions: a) theatrical structures in the open space, located in different regions of Ukraine, have their own structured architectural typology; b) the architecture of landscape theaters makes it possible to apply the principles that allow the creation of a multifunctional cultural entertainment facility in the real outdoor landscape.
As a result of the researches, the authors claim that the environment, urban or historical landscape space acts as an obligatory component of the theatrical structure, which harmoniously combines into one whole nature, the architecture of buildings and stage-viewer space of the created object. As of today, the following vectors for the landscape theaters architecture formation in Ukraine in the future can be foreseen: 1) outdoor theaters with a complete set of electronic equipment for lighting, sound recording and scenography of the landscape theater architectural environment; 2) open-air theatrical structures with a small amount of used technical equipment and innovative technologies that ensure the chamber perception of a cultural event; 3) landscape theaters of a budget type, which are formed on the basis of national cultural and historical traditions with limited use of the latest technical devices and special effects.
Prospects for the landscape theaters creation in Ukraine in the XXI century should be considered promising as the historical preconditions laid the foundation for expanding the number of new and reconstruction of existing cultural-spectacular objects in the open space. All theatrical structures, which are located in a landscape environment in the open space, which include objects of anthropogenic and natural origin, act as integral parts of a holistic open air theatrical-entertainment and leisure establishment throughout the territory of Ukraine.
Key words: landscape theater, auditorium, scene, open space, space-spatial environment, multimedia technical devices, innovative technologies.

PRINCIPLES FOR THE DESIGN OF THE STUDENT MEDICAL CENTER OF THE FUTURE

© Proskuriakov V. I., Krasylnykov O. V., 2018

Overcoming stereotypes and finding alternative solutions in the design of architectural objects is one of the main tasks of futuristic design.
Under the leadership of D. Arch. Professor V. I. Proskuryakov conducted an analysis of futuristic tendencies, which will allow bringing in the concept of the youth medical center future principles of designing a functional medical environment with optimal psychological climate.
Analysis of modern trends in the design of medical institutions has shown the importance of taking into account the psychological impact of architectural and design decisions on human health. Fundamentally, new tendencies of architectural designing of positive psychological climate that can be used to organize the spatial environment of youth medical institutions of the future are determined. The results of the survey of the students of the Lviv city of higher schools showed that the implementation of the right of a young person to medical care is a complex problem in which objective and subjective aspects are present.
The critical underestimation of the need to follow the state of health has a significant psychological basis. By means of architecture, it is possible to achieve a conscious appeal of the young person for medical assistance and its involvement in prevention programs, but this requires the strengthening of state policy in youth health and the design of new types of youth medical institutions.
Key words: futuristic tendencies, youth medical institutions, salyutogenez, psychological comfort.

The main difference between education in Ukraine and abroad lies in the fact that abroad 1st years students as well as 5th year students can work on any project having chosen their mentor independently.
Having examined and compared studying methods at Ukrainian universities and the university of Hanover, universities in Canada, Manchester school of architecture it has been discovered that foreign students from the beginning of studies have scientific and designing seminars, cooperate closely with architecture companies, have a lot of programs for gaining practical skills. At English architecture schools they have one year for gaining practical experience of an architect-professional.
While studying education activity of Ukrainian architecture schools (there are 16 of them in 12 cities of Ukraine) it can be noticed that all of them widely cultivate only one basic type, for instance the architecture faculty of the National academy of visual arts and architecture where artistic workshops have become popular and are managed by famous pedagogues-architects. Nonetheless, university type dominates at architecture schools of Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. Educationally-designing activity at all architecture schools of Ukraine, similar to education structure of the mentioned foreign ones, starts 1–2 years later.
What is the reason for that? It is because during first two years all architecture schools without exception, should additionally teach “fresh” architecture students classical architecturally-technical subjects, basic elements of which (drawing, sketching) are nowadays excluded from schools curriculum.
It can influence the increase of level of educational processes at the first courses in Ukraine in current conditions syncretic integration of all education types into a single hereditary process from younger courses to the older ones. Taking into account previous educational potential of students – architects, monitoring studying progress. Making education directed, personalized, flexible.
Key words: intensity and progress, educational and project activity, catalysts of educational processes, syncretic integration of historically formed types of education, individual educational potential of the student.

DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHITECTURE OF CHRISTIAN THEOLOGICAL-HUMANITARIAN MULTI-EDUCATIONAL CENTERS IN UKRAINE

© Stotsko R., 2018

The article discusses the results of the research on the topic of Christian education development in Ukraine in XI–XXI centuries and mentions the architectural and typological array of buildings and complexes that were used to conduct the educational process, including theological school of pre-Christian times, monastic school, theological school for the upper class, parochial school, large theological school, episcopal school, cathedral school, brotherhood school, theological seminary, theological academy, and theological university.
In Ukraine, the most frequently designed, constructed and equipped educational institutions belonged to the following Christian denominations: Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Church and a few Protestant churches. Each religious denomination has numerous institutions of theological education, which are identified by their peculiar architecture. The article outlines the main features and differences in the development of architecture in Orthodox, Catholic, Greek-Catholic and Protestant educational institutions. The research asserts that the architecture of theological educational institutions belonging to different religious denominations is well-shaped and continues its active evolution together with the development of theological education.
The article emphasizes that the process of mass construction (restoration, reconstruction, repurpo¬sing) of theological educational institutions, which was deprived of the systematic approach to building design, resulted in a chaos of architectural and space-planning decisions. The clear-cut classification of existing theological and theological-humanitarian educational institutions will enable the possibility of developing the projects that would correspond to the up-to-date requirements of the educational process and the spiritual life in similar educational institutions. The criteria for classification include affiliation to a certain religious denomination, educational accreditation level, attendant capacity, city-planning organization, general project composition, architectural and functional organization of the educational process, sacralization level, architectural and space-planning decisions.
The article describes the influence of the main factors on the development of architecture of the theological-humanitarian educational institutions of the new type. The list of factors includes religious and ideological factor, social and demographic factor, functional factor, natural and climatic factor, economic and technological factor. Attention to the mentioned factors will allow designers to develop an educational object that would perfectly satisfy the functional and aesthetic demands of the contemporary world.
The article states that design of the educational institution of the new type, i.e. theological-humanitarian multi-educational center, is based on the principles of affiliation to a certain religious denomination, ecumenism, multi-educational purpose, sacredness, secularism, humanism, capacity for transformation and mobility, conventionalism and modernism. The design development of the educational institution of the new type is conducted in accordance with the following concept: campus of the educational institution of the new type is a theological and humanitarian educational environment, centered around the ideological and functional core, which is a temple. Educational buildings are constructed around the temple. They include catechetical school, theological school, theological seminary, pastoral missionary center, monastic educational buildings of different orders, and theological university.
The author of the article declares that adherence to the indicated principles and concepts, as well as consideration of specific recommendations for the design will facilitate the development of modern and qualitative architecture of the theological-humanitarian multi-educational centers, which will potentially increase the level of theological and humanitarian education and enhance the interfaith dialogue in Ukraine. Consequently, this may result in the rise of a single Ukrainian Church and unify the Ukrainian state in general.
Key words: history, theological education, church, sacred architecture, spiritual and humanitarian space, educational institutions.

“DIVINE CITY” OF ARCHITECTURAL AND CITY PLANNING ENVIRONMENT ESTHETICS

© Timokhin V. О., 2018

Today, when the wheel of world history is fluttering, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish joy and despair from the tremendous achievements and no less losses from the achievements, downs and failures of modern culture and civilization. These reassessments, which historically formed at the turn of the epoch, revolutionary upheavals and landslides with an impressive regularity, were most actively manifested in art during the periods of confrontation and confrontation of new, in the general sense, romantic ideas about a bright future with backward classicism as a symbol of outdatedness and insolvency to development. They were based on continuous attempts to create aesthetic ideas and concepts – a new spirituality – appearing in a peculiar «City of God», which would determine the cosmic order of updating the artificial environment of man, his humanity, harmony and beauty.
On considers the actual problem of the return of modern architecture and city planning to the art sphere, the symbol of which is chosen «divine city». It was analyses the historical development of the main aesthetic concepts of «beauty» and «harmony», «space» and «chaos» in philosophy and art of the XIX–XX centuries on examples of review of the concepts of O. Wilde, J. Ruskin, V. Shmakov, J.W. Goethe, V. Tatarkevich.
It was reviewed the connection between the philosophical, artistic and architectural content of these concepts on the sayings of O. Wagner and H. Van de Velde. Also, also it was analyzed the modern changes and transformations of the concepts of «beauty» and «harmony» in the context of the triad of Vitruvius from the position of E. Saarinen and R. Rogers. It was reviewed transformation and metamorphosis of key aesthetic concepts in a context of confrontation and critical opposition between the main artistic and architectural styles and trends – romanticism and classicism, modernism and postmodernism, on the basis of the works of F. L. Wright, H. Grin, R. Venturi, Ch. Jencks, K. Kurokawa, K. Tange, C. Rowe, A. Grumbach.
It was demonstrated the universal character and the cyclic order of the unfolding of these directions with regard to history and theory of the development of the modern architectural environment and its aesthetic foundations. It was proposed the author's structural-logical model of the aesthetic development of this environment in the form of a «Divine City». It includes: radial axes – streets, that symbolizes directions and styles; the central square, that symbolizes Beauty; as well as ring streets, which symbolizes the boundaries of the settlement of representatives and groups of urban communities (town-dwellers, sloboda-dwellers, urbo-dwellers and village-dwellers) and the influence zones of their respective artistic tendencies. Among them: the architectural topic and rhetoric, the tropics and poetics. The model ends with a circular highway, which symbolizes harmony and at the same time ensures the structural integrity and unity of the «Divine City». The proposed model, in this form, will contribute to the further follow-up of research on aesthetic problems in the development of the modern architectural and urban environment, as well as the return of architecture and urban planning to the field of fine arts.
The idea of a «divine hail» and the deployment of the proposed model of its development as one of the possible versions in determining the hidden potential of this development, creates the necessary and sufficient conditions for further research in the field of aesthetics of the architectural and urban environment, as well as the reversal of architecture and urban planning in the field not only plastic and tectonic arts, but also the return to them of the status of red arts.
Key words: architecture, city planning, environment, esthetic.

FOR CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH AUDITORY
IN THE FUTURE. ACCORDING TO PRELIMINARY RESULTS
OF THE QUESTIONNAIRE OF FIGURES OF NATIONAL
AND WORLD THEATERS ON THEIR TYPOLOGY

 Filipchuk Y. V., 2018

According to preliminary results of the survey of scenographers and the theater figures from Ukraine and the World, it is argued that the architectural and typological palette of theatrical and spectacular buildings requires the development of measures for cultural and educational requirements of the present.
The analysis of survey results of theatrical figures from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk, Cherkasy, Poltava, Toronto proved that they are based on architectural and scenic principles that go beyond the strict framework of the existing theatrical typology in Ukraine.
The results of the previous survey prove that nowadays there is a desire to create theater and entertainment centers for children and young people, which would combine different functional tasks, particularly the spectacle, education and leisure which would operate regardless of age. Today in Ukraine there is no clear-cut answer to the questions raised, therefore, one can’t form a holistic prospect and requirements for the architectural typology of theater centers for children and youth.

ARCHITECTURAL ENVIRONMENT DESIGN:
CURRENT CHALLENGES

© Shebeck N. M., 2018

The article concentrates on the problem of gradual transformation of the design paradigm for an architectural environment, which is caused by the following: the acceleration of transformation processes of common mental models of reality, the shift in the value priorities of society, the evolution of social communication system, technological breakthrough. Architectural environment design increasingly separates from traditional architecture and, on one side, draws closer to the social design, and on the other side, to the web design. Architectural environment transforms into largely augmented, if not entirely virtual, reality, which by means of technical innovations can greatly facilitate human life and improve the world.
Challenges the architectural environment design faces today are the following: social and cultural orientation of an architectural environment, which provides individuals with an opportunity to regulate their level of social contact with the others; inclusivity of an architectural environment, which is focused on creating conditions for equal participation of every person in public life; intellectualization of an artificial environment, which manifests itself in the distribution of robotic and automated technologies; interactive properties of an architectural environment, which emerge in its abilities to respond to the occupants’ actions adequately and in real-time mode; personalization of environmental objects, which can be siuted to the individual preferences of each person; responsiveness of an artificial environment, which able to transform its characteristics in accordance with the changing operating conditions; gamification of architectural and urban objects, which are oriented on game interactions between people and environment; energy efficiency of an architectural environment, which is related to the ability of the environmental elements to receive energy from renewable sources; ecological efficiency of environmental solutions, which is achieved through the cost-effective use of natural resources and maintenance of the balance between artificial and natural components of the environment; productivity of an architectural environment, which allows society to obtain material assets literally from the air; non-semantic features of an architectural environment, which are apparent in the loss of commonly comprehensible architectural and urban forms, and, consequently, their communicative capabilities.
Gradual, but significant changes in the design paradigm of an architectural environment require constant monitoring of the existing trends in this field of professional activity, to understand and correct the direction of professional training of specialists. It is emphasized in the article, that insufficient attention of the professional community of city planners, architects and designers to these challenges can lead to the negative consequences for the progressive development of the design culture.
It is concluded, that modern architecture no longer wants to be proud of its grandeur and firmness. From the newest environmental objects consumers expect a respectful and tolerant attitude to all members of society, when each person has an opportunity to control the conditions of their own life; «touch-sensitiveness», when something can be changed with one touch; «friendly interface», able to adapt quickly to the specific requests of each user. It is not enough today for the building to invoke some associations in the users. Nowadays, the postmodern dream of the dialogue between architectural objects and man has turned into an overall expectation from the environment for an instant, relevant and conscious answers to any our questions. The architectural environment must be smart, interesting and empathic, it should be able to communicate and cooperate with a person in real time, as well as take care of the interests of present and future generations, and these statements can no longer be treated as metaphors. Consequently, it is not reasonable for an architect to murmur on the destruction of the cornerstones of traditional architecture, but it is worth to reflect on the adaptation of its enduring achievements to the actual needs and expectations of contemporaries and their descendants.
Key words: architectural environment, modern design trends.

ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION AND CREATIVE UNITS
(on an example of Lviv organization of NSAU and Lviv Polytechnic)

© Yaholnyk М. V., 2018

The publication is dedicated to the problem of effective combining of architectural studies, education and architectural practice what is extremely topical for our country. At the beginning of the 21st century the issue of activity synthesis of the higher architectural education and solution of creative unions’ activity (National Union of Ukrainian Architects) found its place in publications in professional architectural press as well as in program documents of the National Union of Ukrainian Architects. However, unfortunately, the goal of finding methods and means of combining the task of architectural education and studies and task of architectural practice into one harmonized whole has not been reached.
If looking at historical past, successful attempts of synthesizing two architecture branches can be highlighted: architecture as profession and architecture as art – architecture education and architecture practice.
The heritage of Ivan Levynskyi – Lviv Polytechnic National University professor, pedagogue, scientist and at the same time entrepreneur, builder, public figure – is priceless. Creation of “Polytechnic Society” became extremely important for Levynskyi’s activity, among other program tasks of the society there were the following ones “...creating petitions and demands to the authorities as well as technical and industrial institutions” and “a) uniting people who work in all spheres or with their scientific and practical help to influence the development of all technology fields, put technical life in a corresponding place in the society...”.
The exhibitions for integrated and simultaneous exchange of information in all fields of architecture and construction could become one of the means of organizing architectural studies and practice now and in the future. The exhibition “EXPO-Рolytechnic” could become such an event being the only exposition space for promoting brand – new science and technology achievements, products created by scientific and research departments of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Key words: architectural activity, education and practice, competitiveness.

DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHITECTURAL AND THEATER IDEAS
F. KIEZLER IN UKRAINE AND THE WORLD

© Yanchuk K. V., 2018

Today, the whole world is fascinated by the projects of the avant-garde of the first half of the last century, Frederick Kiesler, who received higher education in Vienna, worked in Paris and became famous in the United States, becoming one of the main reformers of space theory. But how many people know that this phenomenal architect, sculptor and designer in the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi was born and received primary education? Looking at numerous foreign sources, you can read Kiesler – an Austrian, American, Romanian, and virtually no mention that his childhood has just passed in Ukraine. Who knows if this part of life, which leaves behind itself the least impressions, did not affect its ideas and images in consciousness. The work of this prominent architect has been highlighted on pages of many (about 90) foreign publications, written in English, German, Italian, French and other languages. The urgency of the work consists in an attempt by the author to fill significant gaps in the research by Ukrainian scientists of the architectural and artistic heritage of F. Kiesler
Creed Frederick (Friedrich) Kiesler influenced all the formative process of architecture, through the generation of innovative ideas, the creation of futuristic forms of innovative construction. The purpose of the publication is the professional coverage of the creative contribution of F. Kiesler to Ukrainian and world architecture, understanding the importance of the creative heritage of F. Kiesler, who needs both Ukrainian architectural practice and the world.
In today's world, architects increasingly use flowing forms in their projects. This change is associated with the constant growth of the pace of life and the aspirations of people to light natural forms, without any further obstacles for free movement within the structure. Frederick Kiesler developed such ideas, introducing new trends in the development of architecture. Despite the fact that most Frederick Kiesler's projects were not implemented, they directly influenced the idea of a modern society about architecture.

ROLE OF LIGHT IN THE ARCHITECTURE
OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS. FUTURISTIC ASPECT

© Yatsiv S. M., Yatsiv M. B., 2018

In the article the tendencies of use of natural light in modern buildings of culture and churches are considered. Buildings of culture have always been special objects of experimentation with light. In the historical monumental and chamber sacral buildings, the way of using light almost did not change for centuries.
Light in the space of cultural buildings. In cultural buildings, natural light is not necessary for utilitarian needs, and sometimes even undesirable. For example, in theater buildings, museums, in objects intended for performing arts, etc. His utilitarian role is minimal, and the desired comfort of visual perception is achieved by means of artificial lighting. The original prototypes of modern public buildings have been realized in the middle of the last century: the Museum of the Guggenheim in New York (1959), the Chapel in Ronchamp (1955), the Opera House in Sydney (1959–1979) and Berlin National Gallery (1968).The house-icon, which significantly influenced the architecture of modern cultural buildings, and led to the rejection of many stereotypes, became the Museum of the Guggenheim in Bilbao (1997).
Determined types of buildings in which light penetrates differently. In some, natural light is an important form-forming element of the structure. For example, in the Museum of the Guggenheim in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Francisco, the spatial structure of buildings is formed around a pillar of light that penetrates the buildings from the top to the bottom. There are also cultural objects in which natural light penetrates inside from all sides, due to the use of frame structures. Among the first we note the project of the New National Gallery of Berlin. The light literally penetrates the exhibition space of the main hall, through the glass walls. In many modern buildings of culture, through the transparent facades, only the expanses of the foyer, vertical communications, and curbs are lit. Instead, the main rooms are closed to daylight.
Light in the sacred space of the temple. Today, in the world practice of building temples, three main trends have been identified. Much of the contemporary realized sacred objects with its architectonics and the degree of interference of natural light in the interior space testifies to their significant isolation from the environment. Others allow light to be dosed, usually covering the main spaces and fragments of the sacred space. The third group consists of buildings that are completely open outside to the environment, combining the whole interior and exterior space.
In many modern monumental and minimalist temples, the interior space of which is devoid of architectural details, which often cause a feeling of emptiness, the only creator of sacredness is the natural light. For example, in the Chapel of Brother Claus (architect P. Zumthor) end in the Temple of Light (architect T. Ando). Other values of light were declared by artists of the near past, for which the space of architecture is the ratio of abstract concepts. The avant-garde world of art, starting with the principles of Le Corbusier, interprets the light in a new way. The light in such temples is a universal means for identifying the function of the architectural space, a factor that provides an atmosphere of concentration of attention and meditation, suitable for contemplation and prayer.
The article also discusses some aspects of the use of artificial light. It is established that natural light is gradually replaced by artificial light, first in the form of electric lighting, then in the form of light technologies that create a new reality.
Key words: environment, space, natural and artificial light, sacred buildings, buildings of culture.
